Outdoor Appreciation Day at Jean Lafitte National Park, 4th Cycle


Fourth Cycle Corpsmembers hiked in Jean Lafitte National Park during our Outdoor Appreciation Day.  Many Corpsmembers have not had the opportunity to visit local green spaces including State and National Parks outside of New Orleans.

First cycle Corpsmembers celebrated their successful completion of the program with an afternoon of good food, football, and music at City Park. The new second cycle Corpsmembers joined in the congratulations and listened to the orginal Corpsmembers tell about their success.

During the festivities, Corpsmembers also showed their support for Green Jobs Now to build the new economy by painting signs for the National Day of Action on September 27, 2008.

Corpsmembers taught local New Orleans residents weatherization and energy saving techniques at the Alliance for Affordable Energy's BuildSmart Resource Center.  While at Lafayette Square, Corpsmembers beautified the park by removing decaying wooden posts, cleaning up the flower beds, and planting new plants.

After the service events, Corpsmembers gathered at the rally showing that we are ready for GREEN JOBS NOW!
